Plainfield Closes In On Regular Season Title While Chatham Wins First

There were only three games on the schedule on Wednesday night at the HawksBasketball Summer SlamFest in Perth Amboy, and Plainfield won the headlining game against Rutgers Prep, 42-39. As a result, the Cardinals are one win away from clinching the regular season championship. Meanwhile, Rutgers Prep slips down into fifth place a game and a half out of first.

In other action, Chatham got its first win of the summer by virtue of a hard fought, 45-43 victory over Monroe, which is still winless at 0-9. The final game of the evening pitted two Red Division rivals, St. Joseph's and Piscataway, and in a typical barnburner, the Chiefs edged the Falcons by three, 61-58.
